Steamed Tofu with Chili Sauce

Ingredients

Base:

  • 1 block soft or medium tofu

  • Fresh ginger, thinly sliced

Sauce:

  • Minced garlic

  • Soy sauce

  • Sesame oil

  • NM Chili Oil

Toppings:

  • Bonito flakes

  • Extra sliced ginger (for texture)

  • Scallions, chopped

  • Roasted sesame seeds

For Serving:

  • Steamed white rice

Instructions

1. Prep the Tofu
Use a chopstick or skewer to poke small holes throughout the tofu block — this helps the sauce soak in.
Place thinly sliced ginger over the top.

2. Steam
Transfer the tofu to a steamer basket.
Steam for 15 minutes, or until fully warmed through and tender.

3. Sauce It Up
Carefully move the tofu to a serving bowl or plate.
Pour the sauce mixture over the top, letting it seep into the tofu.

4. Finish with Toppings
Top with bonito flakes, extra sliced ginger (for texture), chopped green onions, and a sprinkle of roasted sesame seeds.

5. Serve
Pair with a hot bowl of white rice and dig in.
